December 2021 East Bay Real Estate Market Update ⏰📊

2021 was a record-breaking year for real estate in many ways. As we closed out the year, the number of homes sold in the East Bay dropped significantly compared to December 2020. The driving force for this was NOT a lack of buyers but rather a huge drop in new listing inventory of homes for sale. Buyer demand remained incredibly strong even as prices continued to climb.

What does 2022 look like? The much anticipated rise in interest rates later this year could impact buyer affordability. But the lingering pandemic has many sellers continuing to keep their selling plans on hold for now. If you are thinking about selling, now is a great time while inventory is incredibly low and buyer demand remains strong. If you’re thinking about buying a new home, interest rates are still at historic lows providing great purchasing power.
